Songwriter Javier Romero has been recording under the name Strange Magic for over 10 years in a matter as minimally DIY as one can get away with. In an earlier life he shared the stage with folks like Beirut, Superdrag, and The Breeders to name a few. His music has been compared to Elvis Costello, Brian Wilson, and Wilco in the past.

Last year he released the album "Melatonin Doomsday Blues" which was inexplicably included in Aquarium Drunkard's 2020 Year in Review.  

In a spurt of confidence, he’s furiously written and recorded a follow-up called "Feel Good." which is perhaps more cautiously optimistic (power-poptimistic?) in its scathing commentary about current stuff. Of course, there are also songs about horses, parenthood, and doing Scarlett Johanssen's dishes. "It might be less of a pastiche collection than "Melatonin" and closer to his natural inclinations.", Javier says in his mind while writing the 3rd person.

A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
